I think as a society we believe that 'the customer comes first' and the 'customer is always right'. these are mantras that the hospitality industry has adopted and are rarely challenged. I believe this is not totally accurate..... the customer comes second...... just stay with me on this. The staff come first, the customer comes second.  Let me explain. if my staff are happy, respected, cared about.... If they feel valued, listened to and part of a team, then they come to work happy, they come to work enthusiastic and they come to work in the best condition to give the best level of service possible..... hence making the customer feel as if they are number one.
